I am a coach and a teacher at heart. I have been coaching varsity girls hockey for 24 years and varsity girls lacrosse for 16 years. I am also a high school social studies teacher. Working with kids to help them learn, grow, and be successful is what I have always wanted to do. Helping kids become better lacrosse players, athletes, and people is why I want to do this. The best part of my coaching experience is having former players join the coaching ranks and tell me that I helped inspire them to want to coach. My players become like family to me, and I love watching them grow and become better players and better people.

Coaching at Pipeline allows my lacrosse family to be even bigger.  The excitement of practice with kids that want to get better all the time makes this such a rewarding experience.  Seeing my team’s playing for other high school teams and being able to connect with them after the game makes coaching even better.  While we might be opponents during the game, we are all still a family when it ends.  Club lacrosse has been a phenomenal experience and seeing our Pipeline players develop from month to month and year to year as they pursue their future goals makes it all worthwhile.

I coach to help our athletes become adults of empathy and integrity, who will lead, be responsible, and change the world for good. I coach club because I love to see the development in our players, and to watch them excel and grow in all at each stage of their game.

I coach to build a positive environment where players can push themselves on the field and to contribute to a team while building confidence in themselves and demonstrating perseverance to overcome challenges that they face on, and off, the field.

I am entering my 7th season of coaching girls lacrosse, and 10th year of overall coaching. I started out coaching swimming while in college as an assistant at Mankato West. Moving to a large age group program at the Duluth YMCA, where I was not only the coach but the director of the program of 60+ swimmers. After a long hiatus I got back into coaching with the Buffalo Youth Lacrosse Club when my daughter showed an interest in playing, and I started helping with the 10U team that my daughter was on. Soon after I found myself helping with the high school program as well. Fall of 2019 I started coaching club with the Crandalls, and since then have usually been working with multiple teams, at various levels, throughout the year.

My approach to coaching is very purpose-based. I believe in teaching & developing skills of the sport, while empowering young people to strive towards being the best version of themselves. To be the best requires practice, commitment, sacrifice, skill and experience that develops through the challenges of athletic competition. Helping young people find the courage to lead, the confidence to believe, and the grit to overcome adversity, will not only serve them well on the field, but in the game of life is my why.
